Today's announcements

Alden Vs. JFK
The varsity boys basketball team overcame an 18-point 3rd quarter deficit Thursday, January 19, 2006, to extended their win streak to 4 and to beat JFK by 2, 67-65. The team trailed the whole game giving up 5 3-pointers in the 1st quarter. JFK led 37-24 at halftime and continued good play in the 3rd quarter. The Bulldogs never gave up and pressured the Bears throughout the final quarter. Travis Fuller contributed to the team?s turn around with 3 steals in the 4th quarter and all of his 10 points including a 3-pointer and 3 for 4 from the foul line. Aaron Williamson also came alive in the final quarter scoring 11 of his season high 19 points including 5 for 5 from the foul line. He also finished with 7 rebounds. Peter Subsara also sparked the team with great defense, 5 assists and 8 of his 13 points in the 4th with a 3-pointer and 3 for 4 from the foul line. Mack Lambert did his job and scored 17 points. Mike Roller and Leonard Kubiak scored 4 and 2 points apiece in the win. Finally, Taylor Gavigan was held to only 2 points, but his defense and 10 rebounds cannot be forgotten. The team shot 12 for 15 from the free throw line in the end including Aaron?s 2 foul shots with 19 seconds left to seal the victory. The Bulldogs? record is now 6-7, 4-2 in the league. The team faces East Aurora on Friday, January 20, 2006, and Pembroke Monday, January 23, 2006. Both games are at home so start time is 7:30.

The scholastic bowl team had another second place finish last night at GCC, losing to Akron and beating Pavilion. Andrea F., and Dan D. were the high scores for Alden. Look for our matches to be televised in the near future!

Attention seniors return your yearbook PDA’s as soon as possible!

Attention Cultural Diversity Club members: there is a very important after school meeting today in the guidance office. Please make every effort to check in.

Yesterday, the rifle team lost to visiting Clarence buy a score of 1362 to 1310. The team fires at Kenmore East on Tuesday.

January 19 2006

The rifle team defeated Lancaster by a score of 1322 to 1279. The team hosts undefeated Clarence on Thursday.

Just a reminder the softball batting clinic is from 6:30-7:30 tonight, of you haven’t paid your $5.00 it needs to go to coach Kryszczuk, by the end of advisement today, room 226.

All students who will be working at this Saturdays all county music festival will be attending a mandatory meeting this Thursday January 19 at 10:23 in the choir room- that’s room 129.
Students who will be missing advisement lunch to attend this meeting will be allowed to go get lunch during ONE of their choir or band rehearsal blocks.

Attention Art club members: there will be an art club meeting in the art room Thursday January 19. We will be discussing and planning our future upcoming events, please attend if you would like your voice and ideas head.

Attention Cultural Diversity Club members: there will be a brief meeting today after school in the guidance office. It is very important that you attend.

Spring sports are beginning march 1st if you’re interested in baseball, softball, track and field, or boys tennis please sign up with the nurse ASAP.



Attention newspaper club our yearbook picture will be taken immediately after school in room 116. Be on time or you wil miss the picture.

Reminder to all help members: please be sure to be working on collecting your sponsors for the bowl a thon on February 3rd!! All members are expected to participate! Please see Mrs. Delzer or Mrs. Kosinski for your Bowl-a-thon forms.

The girls bowling team beat JFK by a score of 5-2. High game of 173 and high set went to Danielle O.

The boys bowling team clinched their division title by beating JFK 4-3 last night. The “A” team of Steve H., Kevin H., Matt V., and Sal A. rolled the team set in on the record books. Matt V. rolled a 622 set to stay on pace for the school record. Sal A. had the high set of 654 and Steve H. had the high game of 257.

Attention French club members: the January meeting is today at 2:30 in room 115. we will be having the three kings cake. Come and enjoy.

Last Friday and starday the JV and Varsiry wrestleing teams travels to Lockport to compete in the Lockport tourment. Leading the varsity wrestlers were co-captinas jared L. and Joe B. both taking home a first place trophy. For the JV team, Robert Sonberg battled through very tough compition earning his way to an impressive 2nd place finish.

Announcements for January 13th


Alden Boys Basketball

The varsity boys basketball team extended their win streak to 3 Thursday night January 13, 2006, beating Holland, 47-68. Both teams played a solid first half with Alden clinging to a 2-point lead, 24-26. The team played a strong second half outscoring the Dutchmen 23-42. Good defense helped get the game under control for Alden. The team also shot 11 for 15 from the foul line down the stretch. The Bulldogs? record is now 5-7, 3-2 in the league. Mack Lambert led the team with another balanced game scoring 23 points. He also collected 7 rebounds. Aaron Williamson had a strong game scoring 13 points and pulling down 12 rebounds including 7 offensive. Peter Subsara contributed 10 points shooting 4 for 6 from the floor. Steve Blood had 6 points including an outstanding basket at the final buzzer. Taylor Gavigan had 4 points and another good defensive game. Andy Wozniak hit a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter for his points and passed for 5 assists. Jason Zawacki also had 3 points from the foul line. Travis Fuller, Mike Roller, and Leonard Kubiak finished the scoring with 2 points each. The Bulldogs travel to JFK Thursday, January 19, 2006, for their rescheduled game. Start time is 7:00. The team returns home the next night to face East Aurora at 7:30.

There is still room for any young lady who is thinking of going out for softball this spring, to attend a batting clinic on Wednesday, if interested sign up outside Coach Kryszczuk’s door there is also a special clinic being offered at Niagara University on February 19th if interested please pick up information form outside Coach K’s door.

The scholastic Bowl team had an excellent match last night. The team came in a very close second to Alexander, who is a strong competitor. Andrea F. was the team leader scoring 150 points out of the teams 250 points. Brad M., Dan D., and Jon S. also preformed very well.

Attention seniors: look in the school webpage for the Senior PDA’s for the yearbook. All pictures and money are due by January 30th.

January 11 2005


Only 21 school days left for the annual blood drive at Alden high school. If you’ll be 17 or older by February 10th weight 110 pounds and interested in giving the gift of life please see the nurse. Also we need a dew people to help in the canteen. If you have a free period on a day 4 also see the nurse.

Alden high school is pleased to announce the students of the month for January 2006. These students should report to room 205 directly after announcements Thursday to have their pictures taken.

January 9 2005

Alden Boys Basketball
The varsity boys basketball team got back on the winning track Friday, January 06, 2006, beating Eden, 57-36. Alden came out strong from the 3-point line hitting 4 in the first half going 3 for 5 in the first quarter. Overall, the game was a team win. The Bulldogs’ record is now 3-7, 1-2 in the league. Mack Lambert, Peter Subsara, and Taylor Gavigan each scored in double figures with 12, 11, and 10 points respectfully. Taylor also scored on 2 3-pointers and Peter connected on 1. Mike Roller was close behind with 9 points, including a 3-pointer and 6 for 8 from the foul line in the fourth quarter. Andy Wozniak dished out 4 assists and had a 3-point goal to finish with 5 points. Aaron Williamson and Travis Fuller had 4 points and Leonard Kubiak finished the scoring with 2. Aaron collected 9 rebounds and Taylor and Mack each had 7. Mack also finished the game with 3 blocks. The Bulldogs travel to Cleveland Hill on Monday, January 09, 2006, for their fourth league game. Start time is 7:00.
Attention all Chess club members: there will be a meeting Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 in Mr. Edward’s room.

Grease rehearsal today: all dancers, leads, boys and juniors and seniors girls at 3:00 in the auditorium.

Attention Newspaper club members: Our meeting for today has been canceled. Your articles are dueA.S.A.P.P. Our meeting will be next Tuesday in room 116. Our yearbook picture will be taken at that time.


There will be a prom committee meeting held in the art room after school today. All juniors should see Mrs. Kozub prior to the meeting.

January 5 2005

There will be a read through today at 3:00 in room 129 for all leads. On Saturday- features dances will be rehearsed from 9:00-10:00. The full cast will rehearse from 10:00- noon.

The Scholastic Bowl team had an excellent match last night. It was the first match of the season and students Dan D., Jon S., and Andrea F. cam in second out of 4 teams. Andrea’s impressive knowledge of world capitals really helped the team out. Way to go team!

There will be a Youth to Youth meeting after school today in room 125. Any youth to youth members attending Saturday’s dinner dance need to sign up outside room 125.
